Clean Beauty Review: Nail Polish

This post is part of a new blog series where I just keep a running list of clean beauty products I’ve tried and what I thought! Here are the non-toxic nail polishes I’ve tried. Above is a video of the first 5 I tried.
10-Free is the cleanest rating (meaning it is free of the top 10 “toxic” ingredients).

Favorite Products: Zoya Nail polish, olive + June
OLIVE & JUNE:
Clean Rating: 7-Free
Performance: Lasts over a week without chipping. Vibrant, opaque colors with 2 coats. Dries fairly quickly and is available at Target! Love their color options.
Price: $9
Zoya:
Clean Rating: 10-Free
Performance: Lasts over a week without chipping even if I work with my hands a lot. I have only tried sheer colors and usually use about 3 coats. Takes a while to dry and got a little goopy in the bottle after about 6 months (like it’s expiring?) But still my favorite because it lasts so long on your nails so well. My only complaint is it’s hard to find anywhere other than the Zoya website except for a few colors on Amazon, Ulta and Nordstrom Rack.
Price: $10
Butter London
Clean Rating: 10-Free
Performance: Chips quickly, but colors are nice and bright and opaque! Not worth the money.
Price: $18
Essie Expressie
Clean Rating: 8-Free
Performance: Good! Lasts about 5-7 days if you do a good job painting. Color is really nice and opaque after only one coat, brush is extra wide for easy application, dries really quickly. I first tried this as part of a brand partnership, but I would buy this again. Tons of color options. I like that lots of colors are available at Target.
Price: $9
Sinful Colors
Clean Rating: 3-Free
Performance: Love. Lasts a week without chipping and colors are nice and opaque. Would be my go-to since it’s so cheap except it’s not as clean as the others. Amazing performance for the price tag especially. Sometimes dries out and looks kind of cracked at the end of the week but a clear top coat seems to help that. I often grab one of these on my way out of Target.
Price: $1.99
Ella + Mila
Clean Rating: 7-Free
Performance: Came off same day in the shower and when washing hands with hot water. Loved the colors and packaging but won’t buy again.
Price: $10.50
Sundays
Clean Rating: 10-Free
Performance: Lasted about 5 days. Color looked darker than it did in the bottle but packaging was cute.
Price: $11.95
Adrianne K
Clean Rating: 10-Free
Performance: Lasts about a week without chipping. Great option! Have had this on my toes for like 3 months without touching up. Color is really nice and opaque and looks higher end/stays nice and shiny. The only reason I don’t buy this constantly is it’s a little on the pricier end. A few colors are available on Amazon (this one looks pretty!), but more options on Adrianne K site.
Price: $14
Vita Fit
Clean Rating: 3-Free
Performance: Color looked cheap and weird, but it did last well for about a week. Not worth it — “Sinful Colors” is a similar price point and same clean rating, but way better look.
Price: $2.99
