Pressed Flower Gold Leaf Art

This pretty pressed flower art is a super simple project for anyone who loves crafts but isn’t crafty. It’s easy, affordable and doesn’t require any major crafting skills. I first got interested in pressed flower art because I wish I had pressed my wedding flowers (click here for 5 things I wish I did differently about our wedding) instead of drying them, because now I never know where to put the dried flowers, but some wall art would have been great. I just didn’t think of it at the time!

I think this would make for such a fun group activity for a party or girls’ hang!

Here is what I used:

Pressed flowers: I got this multipack with a variety of colors. These come with tweezers, which were helpful, and if you search for Nuanchu brand, you’ll find lots of color options. They were so vibrant! I used 18 pieces on my 6x8 frame, so this pack will have many more pieces than you need for 1 project.

Gold Leaf: this pack comes with gold, silver and rose gold.

Floating Frame (I like these specific ones because they close tightly, which means you don’t need any glue, because they can hang vertically, horizontally, or free stand, and because the entire backing and hanging element is clear so the focus is on the flowers without distractions! This is the 6 x8 size.

Instructions:

The step-by-step is really quite simple:

  1. Pull apart the frame (the sides pull off on this one, then you can separate the glass front from the plastic backing)

  2. Set the flowers wherever you want them

  3. Pull off a small piece of gold leaf, crumple it up in your hands and sprinkle it around (or place it however you want!)

  4. Put the frame back together, carefully so you don’t move the flowers out of place, and that’s it! All done!

If you use a different frame and it doesn’t hold the flowers well, I’m thinking tiny glue dots, pieces of double sided tape, or a thin layer of mod podge could do the trick. But these frames have been holding the flowers in place without any adhesive for several days, in different positions, so I was content to not stick them permanently in place at all!

Tag me if you make this (@reallyprettygood)! I would love to see!
