TRIP TO THE PHILIPPINES: PART THREE

The third part of our trip to the Philippines (see part one here and part two here!) was really the reason we went - it was Grandma's birthday! We flew from Manila to Butuan, a little bit more remote part of the country on the big island in the south and got ready for her birthday party!

We spent the rest of our days in Butuan exploring local beaches and waterfalls and filling up on chicken and rice before the long trip home:

This was an awesome pool inside a natural cave with natural waterfalls! So gorgeous.

The trip to the waterfalls was long and windy on dirt roads (for almost 5 hours) through the thick of the jungle! It was totally worth it once we got there to see layers on layers of massive waterfalls. We got to sit in the falls and walk along the edge... it was probably my favorite day for photos!

Our final destination was the Enchanted River. The reason it is called "enchanted" is because nobody knows how deep it is - It's literally so deep that they cannot find the bottom. What!! But, the other cool part is that the water is so so crystal clear, that the amazing depth makes for a super bright blue color, and you can see reeeeally far down. It was amazing, and honestly looked fake at first. I wish I could have captured it better in photos! I actually decreased the saturation in the photo below - can you believe that?!

A couple days later we finished our 28-hour trek back to the US and I think I'm finally over the jet lag :)
